Tom is a licensed professional clinical counselor in Missouri and Illinois. He holds a doctorate in education and is certified in the areas of addiction, counseling and treatment. Tom was one of the first Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselors in Missouri. He maintains national certifications in clinical supervision and addiction treatment, and is a certified preventionist in Illinois. He has worked in public and private agencies and has served as a substance abuse and mental health program coordinator, counseling services director and mental health program director as well as a therapist in several treatment venues. Tom is a member of the National Board for Certified Counselors and the Illinois Counselors' Association, and he participates in a variety of other community organizations, groups and activities. His specialty areas include addictions, impulse control disorders, dual diagnosis, dyadic communication enhancement and interpersonal communication. Tom's first job was as a District Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America. He is married with five adult children and four grandkids. Tom says the best part about his job is interacting with his clients and client companies. The one thing he wants his clients to know is how much he enjoys being a counselor. Tom's role model was his father, a great family man and U.S. Army officer during World War II. In his free time, Tom enjoys baseball, painting, drawing, woodworking and visiting the St. Louis Art Museum. His favorite words to live by are, "Do unto others what you would have them do unto you."
